Canna Cacao Hazelnut Spread

1 C organic hazelnuts

8 oz chocolate (I used a mixture of 2 oz Lindt milk, 2 oz 70 % dark and 4 oz dark chocolate chips)

1 T organic cacao powder

1 T cannabis butter, softened (I used a combo of CanniMed 12:0 and 15:5 as I love the pine taste in chocolate)

1/4 t salt

1 T local organic unpasteurized honey

1/2 t vanilla

5 T whipping cream

Preheat oven to 350F and spread hazelnuts on a parchment lined baking sheet or use a ceramic baking sheet. Toast for 10-15 mins. Let cool. Place a towel over nuts and roll to remove most of skins. You can also use a baby spoon to remove rest of skins, but I don’t mind using the extra fibre as the spread becomes paste-like. Melt chocolate in a double boiler on low heat. Add canna butter and vanilla and mix. Grind hazelnuts to a paste with salt cacao, honey. Slowly pour chocolate into food processor as you mix using by removing the tube on processor and pouring into mixture. Add cream and mix until incorporated. Always start eating cannabis edibles such as this by starting with a small amount like a teaspoon of this spread and wait 2 hours before consuming more.

1 T of spread = less than 2 mg THC, a nice beginner amount!

Serve with fresh strawberries or on toast.
